Theresa Larkin-Russo is the mother of Alex, Max and Justin. She runs the Waverly Sub Station with her husband, Jerry. As a mortal, she possesses no powers, but encourages her children's discovery of magic and their Latino heritage.
Theresa Russo is a typical mother. She's fussy, caring and can be pretty embarrassing. Theresa lives in Waverly Place in Manhattan with her husband, Jerry Russo, and her children: Justin, Alex, and Max.
Theresa stated that she is a "Proud Latina" and tries to get her children to learn about her and their Mexican heritage. She used to play guitar for an all-girl mariachi band although she really couldn't play it. In Quinceanera, Theresa was unhappy when Alex disagreed to have her Quinceanera, which is a Latino celebration of a girl becoming a woman. Because Theresa's parents couldn't afford to get her one when she wanted one, this encouraged her, even more, to give Alex one. Knowing this, Alex used Cambia Coporum Meum Copara Sua Niminavi to switch bodies with her mom so that they would both be happy.Because Theresa could not have a Quinceanera, her father wrote a speech of her and a leaky roof and read it in every occasion since: Christmas, Birthdays, and even when he won $10 from a lottery card. Theresa's mother kept that speech and even states that she had memorized it when Max knocks the papers into the punch.Theresa is the reason why Jerry could not keep his wizard powers. Since wizards are not allowed marry non-wizards, Jerry gave up his powers to his older brother Kelbo in order to marry Theresa. However, Jerry says he does not regret marrying her.
Theresa cannot stand magic, despite her kids being wizards. She never wants anything to do with magic and has mentioned her dislike on several occasions. She was all too eager to see all the wizarding items in the lair thrown out when the family was under threat of losing their powers.
