"Lucky Charmed" is the third episode of season four of Wizards of Waverly Place, and the eighty-fourth of the overall series. It first aired on December 10, 2010.

Plot[]

Harper tries convincing Alex that life without magic isn’t so bad, but the strain of taking responsibility for her actions instead of using magic causes a disagreement between the two best friends. When Alex sees that Harper is not passing her driver’s test, because she is not paying attention to her surroundings while she is driving, Alex decides to use magic by turning herself into the hula girl on the dashboard so Harper passes the test.

Meanwhile, Max asks Jerry for the Russo family wizard robe, who tells him that he had already given it to Justin before. However, Justin gives them a fake and when exposed, the truth is revealed that he had ruined the family robe. After a visit to a wizard tailor who gave them a magic washtub, the robe is cleaned. Jerry gives the robe to Justin but Justin decides to give it to Max. As Max walks away with it, Jerry begins to congratulate Justin for his generosity when Justin notifies him not to return the washtub. At that moment, the sound of a car crashing outside followed by explosions, cat screeching sounds and a woman screaming is heard before Max walks back inside, the robe in tatters. He then sneaks upstairs while Jerry slaps his forehead in frustration.

Trivia[]

Screen Shot 2016-09-11 at 8.44
  • When Alex is cleaning the trash cans at the school, you can see a Glee Club auditions poster in the background, which is a reference to the musical group Glee Club, from the T.V. Show, Glee that aired on Fox in 2009.
  • The title is a reference to the brand of cereal, Lucky Charms.
  • The outfits that Alex and Harper are wearing at the beginning of the episode are the same ones they wear at the end of the theme song.
  • When Alex got out after she crashed the car, there were crazy 10-minute sale posters in the background, referencing "Crazy 10-Minute Sale".
  • While Harper is driving, Alex was reading Mason's Dogmapolitan magazine from "Alex Tells the World".

Goofs[]

  • Jerry has the family wizard robe even though he is not the family wizard since he forfeited his powers to his brother Kelbo, though it is possible Kelbo gave it to him, or since Jerry actually won the Wizard Competition, he got to keep it. It's also possible that since the robe is meant to be handed down to offspring and Kelbo does not have any, that Jerry was allowed to keep it.
  • Harper says it's her first day of driver's ed, but she took driver's ed in the season 2 episode "Racing".
    • It is quite possible that Harper had to take driver ed again because she had to stop going since her parents couldn’t take her to driver ed when they were out of town for an audition gig.
